Cinefamily

Selected works during the early years of Cinefamily, a non-profit cinematheque at the historic Silent Movie Theatre in West Hollywood, between the years 2009 and 2011. I began drawing weekly flyers for Jerry Beck’s Animation Tuesdays. From there, I was assigned more curated events such as Yo Gabba Gabba’s “The Big Blue Marble,” which featured a whole month of screenings of films and television that inspired the show Yo Gabba Gabba.

For events like Animation Breakdown in 2011, I was commissioned to illustrate the poster and paint a mural to promote the show (at an art gallery in East Hollywood). That year, Animation Breakdown ended with a world premiere screening of Bruce Bickford’s last feature animated film, “Cas’l.” I am thankful to some staff at Cinefamily at the time for giving me the opportunity to draw this poster and for asking me to pick up Mr. Bickford from LAX. He told me that he liked the poster. (RIP B.B. 1947-2019)
